GAME! let's all group ourselves accordingly - let's bring together those who can help, group the goods we can give, and go in groups to reach out to those who need relief. all i've done so far was donate to that red cross thing. there's also a plastic full of clothes by our main door, which has been there since forever. we've been wanting to get rid of them, so i guess we will, and it's going to go somewhere good. makes me want to go to MVP because that's the help central right now, but i'm not sure if my folks are risking another trip to ateneo after getting stuck in ateneo yesterday for 10 hours or something. OH NO! they can't risk another trip to ateneo! i won't be allowed to go to school forevaaaaah! HEH. but yeah i wanna go to MVP. though i guess our org room doesn't qualify as a relief center. it's too messy and cramped, people wouldn't get any hint of comfort if they stay there.
i also learned that in times like this, "group ourselves accordingly" makes sense, but not quite. it's like abstractio - pagsasama-sama ng magkakahiwalay, at paghihiwalay ng magkakasama (take note, i studied philo last night. with candlelight. i think i now know why. i was trapped in time and space, and after texting so many people to make sure they're okay, i didn't want to be scared shitless while waiting for their replies). pagsasamahin mo lahat ng magkakahiwalay dahil kahit ano pa sila in terms of social status, they're all victims and they all need help, be you an atenean, la sallian, artista, common tao, rich, poor, whatever, you just have to blur all those divisions and just go out and help. besides, the flood victims are also atenean, la sallian, artista, common tao, rich, poor, whatever. ang galing how there's hardly any concept of social status in times of disaster. it kind of makes me want to have more times like this, if this is the only thing that could genuinely unite people.
oh and i'd like to give a little shoutout: bad taste huh? as if you know the context of what i'm saying. which makes YOU stupid for not knowing what goes on beyond what i said. stupid stupid stupid!! :D *evil laugh*
aaaaanyway, rain rain, fuck off. i won't be nice enough to just tell you to go away.
although if the rain could talk, i wonder what it was saying when it was pouring wildly yesterday. maybe it's like hearing your mom give you a sermon:
1. still a bit calm - i'm going to teach you guys a lesson
2. getting stronger - oh yes, i shall.
3. climax (as the flood rises quickly) - PUTANG INA NYO! PUTANG INA NYO! KADIRI KAYO! YOU SHOULD ALL BE OC PEOPLE AND YOU SHOULD RECYCLE AND YOU SHOULD STOP BEING SO MESSY AND SO GROSS! JUST LOOK AT MANILA! HELLO! STOP BEING USELESS BITCHES AND CLEAN YOUR STUFF! THE DRAINAGES ARE CHOKING! IF YOU KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING, I'M GOING TO MAKE YOU CHOKE AS WELL! YOU SHALL ALL SUFFER BECAUSE YOU'VE BEEN MAKING ME SUFFER FOR THE LONGEST TIME! SHIT KAYONG LAHAT!
4. getting softer - okay. so, what are you going to do now?
5. complete stop - go, do it.
THAT IS SO TRUE.
ReplyDeleteThis post moved me even more, Pauline. I hope you don't mind me reposting this. You will be given credit. :)
I COULDN'T AGREE MORE. Someone has got to teach us people a lesson.

ReplyDelete-- so what's the context of your comment in facebook? this is maita ponce by the way, blue rep alumni.
haha, i was just imagining how things would be after this whole situation. i wonder if by next week, people would go back to their habit of throwing trash everywhere.
ReplyDeletei'm also thinking, the flood was caused by clogged drainage, but the relief goods being distributed are in plastic bags. the packed food are in styro. we might be setting ourselves up for an even bigger disaster :|
i was thinking that the message they're trying to get across right now is very timely and that would make them put more meaning into what they're doing.
ReplyDeletehow wrong is that?
Very, very true. We should all be learning a lesson from what happened - not just reacting to it, but letting it change our perspectives.
ReplyDeleteA lot of repairs need to be done, we haven't even started yet and we are already setting ourselves up for another problem. Yes, you are right at that. I think so much thought has been put into helping the victims that it completely slipped our minds that we are suppose to put them out of further harm's way, not making it any worse than it already is.
ReplyDeletePauline, I think we should voice this out to the distributers of relief goods. Their deployments have already started today but maybe there's something we can do about it tonight so they can maybe change it tomorrow. Who do we contact?
And about this, I don't want to sound pessimistic but from the looks of it, people might be more concerned over the loss of a lifetime's worth of possessions in the coming months than finding ways to implement proper waste disposal.
ReplyDeleteWe may be. Hopefully, a huge portion of our population will.
In the meantime, let's keep doing our own parts and keep up with our prayers.
although hindi mo din naman siya pwede ilagay sa recyclable bags because they're gonna get wet. same goes for paper. it's so ironic. and well, since victims have other things in mind such as the things/people that they lost, you're right. i don't know where proper waste disposal (the lack of which caused this disaster) would come into play.
ReplyDeleteokay. let's review what you commented..
ReplyDeleteyou said "it was a perfect publicity for noah." and when kevin asked, you said "kevin: when things like this happen, go build a boat. don't just... go online. or something."
and on multiply: "which makes YOU stupid for not knowing what goes on beyond what i said. stupid stupid stupid!! :D *evil laugh*"
not to pick a fight or anything but i too got bothered by those comments, pauline. in all honesty, they were really off. first, relating noah to the typhoon would definitely trigger emotional comments from people, especially people from the show. what was wrong with going online when that was the only way to gather news? what was wrong with logging on to facebook and checking if your friends and family who were far away from you left messages or updates?
perhaps it was also the manner of how you answered that elicited those comments from people. pauline, i know we all have the freedom to express ourselves. hopefully, you too will realize to be more considerate. rony is right. in time you will understand..when you are older.
pero totoo naman eh. in times like this, we have to do something tangible. we have to build something that people can hold on to. it's okay to go online to check on people, but more than that, use this kind of medium to gather people to go out of their comfort zones and do actual help. go to the streets and help rebuild what was lost instead of staying at home. i don't get why they reacted that way because there's something they also didn't get. and i hate how i'm always asked to explain. if i know fully well what i have in mind, why would i have to? i don't have to grow older to understand. i've been forced to grow up too many times already. nakakapagod.
ReplyDeletetama na, okay lang? i dunno why this is getting so much attention when there are more important things that actually deserve attention.
